Mad about Alaia…

The LPD team has always loved Azzedine Alaïa. And it seems the designer is having somewhat of a renaissance at the moment.

After having worked at Dior and Thierry Mugler he opened his first Parisian atelier in the 1970′s.

He was instantly labeled the ‘King of Cling’ and his second-skin dresses helped define the era’s style aesthetic

He has most recently had that all too famous spat with Vogue editor Anna Wintor publicly calling her a “dictator”.

Here are a few of our favourite Alaïa pieces…

Fluro & neon brights…

July 19, 2011

We are getting into everything fluro at the moment.

It was a huge trend in the latest Resort collections.

We love it added in large blocks or in highlighted sections in amongst a detailed print.

Knit Print…

July 13, 2011

We are loving the elegant simplicity of ethic style prints at the moment in the studio…

We have come across an amazing South African knitwear designer Laduma Ngxokolo.

He took inspiration for his knits from tribal beading from is home land.

We love the geometric patterns and the unexpected colour combinations.

Have a look for your self using the link below:

We look through Tommy Ton’s amazing street shots from Europe to bring you the best in colour and print.

Land, Sea, Sky…

July 4, 2011

Land, Sea, Sky is contempory art from the Torres Strait Islands on Display at the GOMA in Brisbane. We travelled there over the weekend to see the amazing art for ourselves…

Rich and complex tribal patterns in the most stunning colours  and unique colour combinations representing different cultural groups and their link to the land.

Some the most exciting art emerging is now being produced by ‘new’ painting communities and are some of the smallest and most isolated in Australia.

If you are in Queensland or have a chance to travel there, we recommend you make your way to the GOMA for some inspiration.

Exhibition closes in October 2011.
